How an Earthquake Looks Like On IRC

This noon our office building shook for a long time (at least it felt long) again. Since the building is an oldish concrete and glass affair that will probably crumble like a house of cards on "the big one" (knock on wood here), all I did was to inform the gang on IRC:

Magnitude was reported by USGS at first to be 7.3, now reduced to 6.7. Note how the time is given as "10:09:23 (UTC)". Considering we're UTC+2 (aka GMT+2 - unlike the times given on this weblog, which are GMT+1), and that there probably was a delay, there were tremors for around 2 minutes. They weren't too strong though. It felt like they shook the building in North-South direction.

I was staring at the screen and I started to loose the focus of the data in the screen and began to focus on the border of the screen and how it was moving.
It was a soft one in Athens but it was quite long. I've never felt one as long as this one. Strange feeling.
As always one co-worker who sits opposite me said "are you moving the table?".
Funny thing: some people said that they got scared and wanted to go home. 30 minutes later they were working as nothing had happened :P

The one on January 6th was a lot longer, three times as long actually, and much more jolty. Lots of different kinds of earthquakes depending on depth, location and which tectonic plates are moving.
Kat, I can't really compare to January 6th, as I was in Teutonia (aka Germany) at the time...
On January the 6th.... I was returning here (Athens), and some airline I don't want to mention was loosing my suitcase. Perhaps was the earthquake :P
Perhaps they dropped the suitcase on Chuck Norris' feet, yes.
Colby, with "you guys", do you mean all the people who commented here, all the people in Greece, all the people who felt that earthquake, or just all the people who run this site (which would be just me)?
I don't think you want to include Chuck Norris in that, whichever you chose.
